Counselling

Counselling is not about giving advice or direction but providing a supportive, confidential space to talk safely and honestly about how you really feel.  People turn to counselling for a wide range of reasons but whatever the underlying issues, counselling can help you to find your own resources to cope with them and to better understand your needs in your life and for your future.

How I Work

My approach to counselling is an integrative one, meaning I will tailor our work to suit your individual needs, by drawing on a variety of models and counselling tools.    My core training and the foundation to my approach is in Person Centred therapy.  I place a great deal of importance on the trusting relationship between client and counsellor as I believe that it is the most important element of successful and beneficial therapy.

Once we have had a chance to meet and talk about what has brought you to counselling, we will discuss what your goals for therapy might be, including the number of sessions we may work to.  We will continually review our progress; nothing is set in stone but based around your individual requirements.  Some clients, who are very clear about their needs, may wish to work in a solution focused way for maybe 4 to 8 sessions.  While others may find it very difficult to talk about and connect to what is going on for them and so our work together may be more experimental and creative in nature.  Your experience of counselling will be as individual as you are.

Costs

The sessional fee for one to one counselling is £45.  A discount is offered for block bookings of 6 sessions, if paid upfront (£250).  Payments can be made by bank transfer.
